The Cutty Sark is a famous clipper that was built in 1869 and is currently being restored in a dry dock in Greenwich.
I have a fairly decent view of it from my window so I thought I'd share it on this website. Please note that I'm not affiliated with the Cutty Sark in any way and cannot answer any questions about the restoration project. You can visit the official site for more information and to donate to the Cutty Sark Trust.
All I can see is a grey blob! What's wrong?
There's a pigeon on the window sill.
Where's the ship?
At the time of writing (September 2008), the Cutty Sark is under a weatherproof canopy while it's being restored.
When will the restoration be finished?
According to the official website, it's due to be completed in spring 2010.
What else can I see in the picture?
Depending on which way the camera is facing, you'll either be able to see some of the Old Royal Naval College or the southern entrance to Greenwich Foot Tunnel. The grey/blue patch behind the trees is the River Thames.
What kind of camera are you using?
It's a Linksys WVC54GCA.
How often does the image update?
It should automatically reload every 5 minutes - there's no need to refresh the page.
Why is the date on the image so old?
The most likely reason is that my internet connection has gone down so the webcam can't upload a fresh image. It shouldn't be broken for too long.
Who made this?
My name is Simon Starr and I'm a freelance web developer, specialising in Ruby on Rails.
